After working side by side in the toy and craft industry for years, great friends and fellow crafters Sabre Mrkva and Eric von Stein launched their dream company, Bright Stripes, in 2019.  With a shared love of all things craft and DIY, they believe in the power of creative play to inspire kids to create the world they want to live in.

Sabre is as ecologically minded as she is business-savvy, having studied industrial design and permaculture. She is leading Bright Stripes into the future with eyes on sustainable materials and thoughtful, heirloom-quality tools for crafting.  Her experience as a mom of 2 daughters gives her the passion to create wholesome, satisfying play experiences for every child.   

Eric’s love of quirky vintage toys and the camp crafts of his youth inform Bright Stripes’ creative choices.  He dreams of inspiring present and future generations to embrace creative projects in all forms, and to find the material that lights up their imaginations, whether that’s yarn, wood, paint, clay, fabric, or all of the above!

Sabre and Eric are constantly looking for ways to make kids enthusiastic about screen-free, tactile activities which build skills as much as they build character.
